You spend the first two days learning the basics of kite control on a very beautiful beach and then on the third day you move on to the open water which is just super beautiful. It was challenging but super fun and I had a truly wonderful time. The instructors (Edo and Andy) were great teachers, have excellent English, and are very professional and very helpful and friendly. PO Pielaet26/03/2024I spent three days with Edoardo and his instructors (Piotr and Marc). I spent the first day with Piotr on the beach (direction of the kite and safety guidances), the second in the sea with Piotr and Edoardo (direction of the kite in the sea, upwind body drag, …) and the third one in the sea with Marc and Edoardo (first lines with the board). I could not recommend enough the lessons with Edoardo and his team. They were all so nice, always positive but also quite watchful for the security of everybody. Their instructions were really clear, effective and precise and enabled me to substantially increase my level of kite in three lessons (6-7 hours in total). It was the First time for me I did a watersport and 4 lessons haven‘t been enough so I would definitly encourage you to do more if you can. A kite flies due to the combination of aerodynamic principles and the force of the wind on its surfaces. The shape and angle of these surfaces create lift, similar to how an airplane wing works. The kite also encounters resistance, called drag, as it moves through the air. It is connected to the person flying it by lines that, along with the lift generated by the wind, keep it airborne. By manipulating the angle and tension of the lines, the person controls the kite’s trajectory.
A kitesurfer can reach speeds ranging from 25 to 35 knots (approximately 46 to 65 kilometers per hour or 29 to 40 miles per hour) in ideal wind conditions with advanced equipment and skills. Some professional kitesurfers in specialized speed competitions have exceeded 50 knots (92 kilometers per hour or 57 miles per hour). Speeds achieved depend on factors such as wind strength, kite size, rider’s skill level, and type of board used.
For a kitesurfing course, you typically need the following equipment:
1. Kite: The main component that captures wind power to propel you across the water. Comes in different sizes depending on wind conditions and rider weight.
2. Kiteboard: The board on which you stand and ride. There are various types of boards depending on riding style and personal preference.
3. Harness: Connects you to the kite, distributing the pulling force and allowing for better control and comfort while riding.
4. Wetsuit: Provides thermal protection, especially in colder waters, keeping you warm during your sessions.
5. Helmet and Life Jacket: Safety gear that should be worn to protect against falls and accidents in the water.
6. Walkie-talkies: Often used by instructors to maintain constant communication with students during water lessons, ensuring effective and safe teaching.
